Welcome to the Plothole Speculation sub-section of Concept: "Mobius," everyone. From the very start, this sub-section is kinda what I hoped would put this site on the map, but as it turns out, the other available parts of Concept: "Mobius" had rose to popularity. This is something I did not expect. The plothole speculation is meant to give you, the Sonic fan, some of the most revolutionary and sensible fillers to the many continuity errors the Sonic the Hedgehog game series has accumulated.

However, there are a few things we should address and even accept before going into research and solving some of these plotholes. First of all, all who read this should know that there ARE Sonic fans out there who take the storyline (or a lack thereof) with a lot of regard, such as myself. Albeit, we realize the game storyline isn't held with much importance by SEGA, we know it still has potential. In fact, that's pretty much the entire purpose of this sub-section. Contrary to popular belief, Concept: "Mobius" is not a site that is meant to repair the game storyline and keep things as official as possible. Yes, that is a high priority… but our much more hopeful intention is actually to supply a fully patched up, smooth continuity for fans to use in their comics, fanfics, fangames, etc., etc. that is as accurate and faithful to the games as possible. That's what this site is: A Sonic site dedicated to the true visionary of Sonic fandom.

Some Sonic fans are indeed in it for the games, some are in it for the comics, some are in it for the fanart, some are in it for the character development, and some are also in it for the fashion. Others like me are in it for the storyline, as mentioned. But no matter how much appeal we may find lurking about in the pensive game storyline, there is still one undeniable principle that stands firm: Sega doesn't hold the product continuity with much importance. That's just the way the ball rolls. SEGA, Sonic Team and all of the savvy higher-ups that run those two companies do not care about the Sonic storyline. All they hold in importance is the game, how it plays, and how much feedback it gets. And in the end, that makes perfect sense.

To the creators of the Sonic games, the storyline should only be as fitting as the game it is portraying, which causes the storyline to change or altar throughout each title. That is what makes the plotholes. And all of this hectic storyline-altering is probably something that will continue for ever and ever, in spite of Ryan Drummond's explanation as to WHY the original VA cast has been replaced by the Sonic X voice actors. (He said that Sega suddenly cares about product continuity starting with the upcoming Shadow the Hedgehog game, thus the VA cast change, although I am taking that declaration with a pinch of salt.)

But what if Ryan Drummond was right? What if SEGA will start making sure the continuity remains even from here on in? As pleasing as that sounds, that still leaves many wounds from the past of the storyline. So for any Sonic fans interested in meshing the past with the present/future smoothly, then this is the site for you.

Each solution (that is what I will dub plothole fillers as) for each plothole is one you can rest assure has been passed through many a fan's opinion, and has gone down as perhaps the most logical solution to the corresponding plothole. Rest assure that research has been done, and much thinking had accompanied it.
So without further ado, let's start with the Plothole Speculation sub-section!

Instructions: Plotholes are listed in order of severity. There are negligable plotholes, moderate plotholes, and severe plotholes. Severe plotholes can probably be very large pages, so prepare for long loading time. Just look around and research what you want. These plothole repairs are based entirely off of the Japanese manual translations when regarding the pre-1998 games, since most of them were the ones that exhibit today's game storyline and vice versa.

*All plotholes in this sub-section are subject to change in the event that an official solution to them is given in the games. If I am missing any plotholes, you know the drill:

It is very possible you may not agree with some of them or may find faulty logic in Concept: "Mobius'" repairs for the plotholes. Do remember that this sub-section is meant entirely for those who want to fix the plotholes to benefit a fanfic, comic, or story they are working on.
