Eggman's Origin »

The origin of Eggman depends solely on what universe you are a fan of. However, no matter what, there is still a slight subject of debate involving this piece of information. So what we're going to do here, like in the Humans in the world of Sonic the Hedgehog article, is go through each portrayal and come up with a viable solution on Eggman's origin. So let's get right to it.

Games:

So you are a game purist? This is easy. Since in the games (without counting anything BUT the games), it seems as if the continuity has taken place on Earth from the start and humans have been present. So this is simple: Eggman is the grandson of Gerald Robotnik and was born on the Earth just like any other human.

Sonic X:

Those of you who think Sonic X is canon have it a tad more complicated. There are no humans on Sonic's homeworld except Dr. Eggman. Dr. Eggman is human, so how the hell did he get there, especially since we know his relatives, Gerald & Maria come from Earth of the humans? The best solution for this would be to say Chaos Control. Yes, Chaos Control.

The Chaos Emeralds were studied by Dr. Gerald Robotnik during the creation process of Shadow, correct? So that means that the Chaos Emeralds can be accessed from any world, and this makes even more sense for Earth since the Earth of the humans is related to Sonic's homeworld, except is a parallel world. So the humans had access to the Chaos Emeralds 50 years ago, thus Shadow's creation. So how did Eggman get to Sonic's world? Easy. Sonic & co. got to the Earth of the humans through Chaos Control in the first episode, correct? So what is stopping Eggman from accidentally/deliberately using Chaos Control with the Chaos Emeralds from after their examination on the ARK to teleport himself to a parallel world of walking, talking animals? There you go. Eggman Chaos Controlled himself to Sonic's world, thus starting the Sonic continuity.

Comics:

The comics are pretty easy too. Robotnik descended down from the Robotnik family which are Overlanders.

Sonic OAV:

Easy. Humans exist on Freedom, so Eggman simply descended down.

Conclusion: So, in the end, we can conclude that Sonic X has the most complicated origin for Eggman, the rest are pretty easy. Plothole solved.
