"SegaSonic"»
As you can clearly see, the title graphic of the Arcade title says, "SegaSonic the Hedgehog." That is pretty much the only 'official' representation of such a dubbing, but nope — God forbid we keep it there, huh? I mean, it's also on these:
In a way, SegaSonic was more of a nickname or alias Japan gave Sonic for some promotional purposes (I'm quite sure he was never called SegaSonic in the games), and the nickname died out at around 94, or 95. But it wasn't until major online Sonic fandom formed that Sonic Team purists adopted the name and used it as some elite way to classify their ideal vision of Sonic: that everything from Sonic Team and Sega of Japan is the canon Sonic and everything else isn't. Most true and marginally intelligent Sonic fans know that all portrayals of Sonic: Sonic Team, Archie, Fleetway, SatAM, etc., etc. are all official, but are just different to appeal to different nations. But there are those special few that think that their precious "SegaSonic" universe is the official Sonic, mostly because they have some strange complex with their own ethnicity and bust a nut over anything that is Japanese. Newsflash, people. If Archie, Fleetway, SatAM, etc., etc. weren't official, they wouldn't exist since they would be infracting copyright and trademark laws. All Sonic media whether it be the comics, games, TV series or merchandise pass through SEGA at some point. So as a conclusion here, if you insist on smothering any Archie or SatAM fans with your purist caca, then at least assert some technicality and refer to your logic as, "Sega of Japan-canon" or perhaps "Sonic Team Sonic" instead of SegaSonic. SEGASONIC is dead, meaningless, and is being totally misused across the fanbase. All in all, EVERYTHING Sonic-related is SEGASONIC since, guess what, SEGA is the one that licenses all Sonic products!
