CHARACTER
INFORMATION
Name: Chaos' name corresponds to the amount of Chaos Emeralds
it has absorbed. In this case (regarding the picture on the left), its
name is Chaos Zero: its default form.
Nicknames:
The god of Destruction
Race:
Elemental water spirit
Gender: Unknown
(Speculation: Chaos not only has the physical
qualities of a male, but is also referred to as one on occasion in the
games/shows he was shown in.)
Age: Unknown
(Speculation: Chaos is a water elemental spirit.
It could've been born at the beginning of time, meaning it could be
thousands or millions of years old, depending on your beliefs.)
Date of birth: Unknown
Birthplace:
Unknown
Height:
Chaos' height is never the same since it can morph into different shapes
and sizes. However, the height of Chaos Zero, its default form (as shown
in the image on the left), is unknown. It can be speculated at somewhere
between 5 or 6 feet all.
Weight:
Unknown
Physical
techniques: Unknown
(Chaos was playable in Sonic Adventure 2 and
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle 2-P mode. Although, it showed physical potential
certifiable for a Sonic character, any 2-P mode doesn't exactly contribute
to the storyline arc or actual character development. For the record,
its abilities in 2-P mode were similar to Knuckles and Rouge; it could
do the spinball jump/roll, glide, climb, dig, and use some supernatural
powers called the Chaos Impact, Chaos Strike, and Chaos Bind.)
Abilities
and aptitude:
(1). Even in its default form, Chaos is extremely powerful. It's very
possible that Chaos is even more powerful than Knuckles.
(2). Has complete control over the element of water and can morph into
puddles or powerful streams of water, and stretch its limbs to unimaginable
lengths and sizes.
(3). Perhaps Chaos' most unique ability is that when given a Chaos Emerald,
it grows in size and power, taking on a different shape as well. The
more Chaos Emeralds it is fed, the more powerful it gets. Once Chaos
receives all seven Chaos Emeralds, it becomes Perfect Chaos. With each
Chaos Emerald, the transformation includes a new shape, size, and implements
some bone structure inside Chaos' watery physique. Chaos' name also
changes accomodating to how many Chaos Emeralds it is fed. Its default
form is Chaos 0, which is depicted to the left.
Hobbies
and talents: N/A
Weaknesses:
(1). Sluggish and unwieldy when in motion.
Physical
Appearance (Chaos 0):
- Chaos' body is made entirely of glowing blue, transparent
water, and by default, its shape is generally bulky and buff-chested
- Head has three protrusions: one erected upwards, splitting into two
curved "horns" arching downward
- Two protrusions next to its eyes; similar to Amy's quills
- Glowing, vivid green eyes
- Chaos' hands have three long claws, while its feet have two
- Chaos' brain and brain stem are visible through its forehead, otherwise,
no other entrails or internal organs show in its default form
Otherwise, Chaos' appearance is always changing,
such as if it decides to turn into a glob of water while in combat or
a puddle to move more quickly, and especially when it is fed a Chaos
Emerald where it begins to grow bones
Attire:
N/A
Items
& weapons: N/A
Vehicle(s):
N/A
Personality
details: Chaos' personality is actually hard to figure out.
Chaos doesn't talk and so far, the only known way it could communicate
was through water ripples to Tikal the Echidna some 3000 years ago.
But actions speak louder than words, and Chaos' actions have confirmed
the watery beast as a compassionate sentient, believe it or not. Unfortunately,
Chaos is recognized mostly with a bad rap because of that whole, 'destroy
Station Square in a tsunami of rage and fury,' scenario it pulled
off when it transformed into Perfect Chaos. But we all know that was
only because it was angered. In actuality, Chaos is very nice and shows
the utmost care for the Chao that used to congregate at the Emerald
Shrine at Angel Island. That was what Chaos found the most enjoyment
out of: protecting them. Overall, the liquid life-form seems to have
a warm heart and a compassionate, yet still fairly serious and blunt
personality. However, this is not fully confirmed.
Historical
biography:
Chaos,
the elemental spirit of water, is very mysterious concerning its origin.
How or when it was created are both unknown. Why, however, is perhaps
to protect the Chao that would dwell at the Emerald shrine on Angel
Island. It has been doing that for as long as anyone could remember.
For all we know, Chaos (which, at the time, didn't even have a name)
could've been protecting them for thousands of years before the skirmish
with Chief Pachacamac ever happened. However, let's fast forward to
that part of history, as it was integral to the future of Sonic's world.
Some
3000 years ago, the Echidna tribe's chief, Pachacamac, strived for power
for the people. He was greedy, war-mongering, and unconcerned with his
daughter Tikal's endless pleas for him to stop setting such dreadful
goals. For comfort, Tikal would often go to the Emerald Shrine to play
with the Chao. She also knew that Chaos existed there, which at the
time was considered no more than an elemental water spirit. Chaos would
communicate through water ripples in the small pool surrounding the
shrine. Perhaps the pool WAS Chaos. That is unknown, but what is known
is that times were peaceful then, until that one terrible night.
Accompanied
by a rag-tag group of warriors, Chief Pachacamac stormed to the Emerald
shrine after sending it up in flames, ready to use the Chaos Emeralds
to bring ultimate power to their civilization. Tikal begged them, one
last time, to stop. But no avail, as Pachacamac ordered his men to charge
forward. In the process, they trampled both Tikal and the Chao. Needless
to say, this pissed off the mysterious elemental water spirit. Not only
did they trample its only friend, Tikal, but they also stomped out the
chao it lived and died by to protect!
When
the men made it to the altar, they were intercepted by the water spirit,
who finally revealed its physical form. The echidnas screamed out, thinking
it was a monster. They actually weren't far from the truth, since the
water spirit absorbed the power of the Chaos Emeralds and morphed into
a giant beast of destruction. The entire echidna civilization was wiped
out soon enough. But luckily, Tikal managed to recover from her temporary
catatonic state and run to the Master Emerald, reciting the ancient
spell. The water spirit was then sealed within the mighty green gem.
However, Tikal's spirit was trapped inside of it with Chaos' as well,
thus bringing forth the demise of the physical Tikal.
Along
with Tikal (until she died that very night), a few other echidnas managed
to survive the tragedy. They made it their solemn vow to begin a guardianship
of the Master Emerald, making sure the terror within will never be released
upon the world again. It was at this time that the 7 all-powerful gems
were named the Chaos Emeralds and the mysterious water spirit was named
Chaos, the god of destruction.
Some
3000 years later, a very certain mad scientist with an egg-shaped body
comes across some ancient stone tablets that interpret the utter destruction
this beast caused. Unfortunately, they also revealed its location inside
the Master Emerald. Never one to consider the consequences, Eggman immediately
sets out to shatter the Master Emerald, thus freeing the beast within,
thinking he could use Chaos to destroy Station Square, and on its ruins
mount Eggmanland. It was only a matter of time before Chaos was freed.
The Master Emerald shattered to pieces, releasing Chaos and an odd glowing
ball of white light, startling the Emerald's current guardian, Knuckles.
Awestruck by this new visitor, the echidna immediately attempts to throw
a punch. However, Chaos delivers a rough counter attack, sending the
echidna flying back. Before Knuckles made it back to the altar, Chaos
had escaped.
Things
seemed all fine and dandy for Dr. Eggman, since for awhile, Chaos was
on a leash, obeying Eggman's orders to put a stop to a certain meddling
hedgehog once and for all. It even reached the point where Eggman managed
to give Chaos 6 Chaos Emeralds; just one away from its perfect form,
where, let's face it, it would be unstoppable. However, the combined
power of Sonic and Knuckles managed to defeat Chaos 6 and thus completely
ruin Eggman's plan. It was at this point that Chaos began to go off
on its own mission: collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds, become Perfect Chaos,
and finish what it had set out to do those thousands of years ago.
Most
unfortunately, Chaos managed to retrieve all 7 of those blasted jewels
after awhile. Station Square was its first target. It all happened so
fast: water went blasting out of buildings, manhole covers went flying
upward as pillars of water streamed out of the sewer lines, giant tsunamis
pounded relentlessly against the city that stood no chance. In the aftermath,
a building exploded as the water molded into a giant beast of destruction,
and it let out a mighty roar. This was none other than Perfect Chaos,
and so far, it was accomplishing its ulterior motive.
Chaos
was busy overkilling his demolition job on Station Square, which was
now no more than a vast ocean with several buildings and ruins sticking
out of the surface of the water. Eggman tried to destroy the beast using
a new model of his previous skyship, the Egg Carrier. But a simple energy
beam from its gaping mouth managed to put Eggman out of commission.
Sonic had arrived on the scene at this point, angered at Chaos' actions.
It was also then that the mysterious glowing ball that also escaped
from the Master Emerald when it was shattered finally took physical
form as Tikal the Echidna. She revealed what Chaos was up to and why.
She pressured Sonic to make way to the Master Emerald to seal Chaos
away forever. But for Sonic, that wouldn't do!
Why
seal Chaos away again? If it's freed, it would just go off and do this
again. But since Chaos had already used the Chaos Emeralds, then they
were stuck with no choice. That is until Sonic's friends came back with
the 7 Chaos Emeralds that Chaos dispersed out into the city's outer
boundaries after depleting them of their energy. However, not the kind
of energy Sonic normally uses! Chaos used the negative power of the
gems. Once Sonic used the positive power, he morphed into the fathomed
Super Sonic, pummeling Chaos into submission, and in the process, neutralizing
him. Chaos was finally calmed and was even happier when he found that
humans managed to restore the race of chao by raising them with tender,
loving care. Both Chaos and Tikal began to rise up in the air and then
disappear, returning to the Emerald Shrine to live in peace and tranquility
for all eternity. However, if there is a time of great crisis, Chaos
never fails to make its presence known.

Chaos probably resided at the Emerald Shrine, taking disguise as the

congregates inside the Master Emerald to rest. It's not known for sure.

Personal character analysis/commentary (by Nuclear Envoy):
Out
of Tikal and Chaos, this big guy is the much cooler character. Chaos
was so cool that he was approved immediately by the higher ups when
his concept sketches were shown. Surprisingly, though, he doesn't really
have a big fanbase. I know only one person whose favorite character
is Chaos out of the many, many Sonic fans I have come in contact with.
Obviously,
one thing Chaos has going against him is the fact that he doesn't talk.
When people are older, they generally begin to form an interest in characters
whether it be for games, movies, or TV shows, based on their personalities
and their development in the series. Since Chaos doesn't talk, it's
hard to get to know his personality. You can only judge him based on
his actions, which so far have been veritable and not very helpful in
regards to figuring out his conduct. Personality is critical and even
considering Chaos' absolutely wicked appearance and powers,
his lack of a personality blows a hole in him as far as potential in
a fanbase goes.
Luckily,
Chaos seems to be sticking around. And out of Tikal and Chaos, Chaos
is beyond the shadow of a doubt the much more favorable one to keep
since he is original and awesome-looking at the same time. Not to mention,
Chaos isn't actually dead like Tikal. References to Chaos have still
been made in Sonic games to this day, and he always congregates at the
Master Emerald shrine, which means he could just pop up at any time.
